Welland Women's Institute is a member of the Severn Group which forms part of the Worcestershire Federation.  Over 7,000 WIs are grouped together to form 69 county and island federations, each with a regional office. Together the WIs and federations make up the National Federation which has its headquarters in London.

The Women's Institute (WI) is the largest voluntary organisation for women in the UK.  The WI was formed in 1915 with two clear aims: to revitalise rural communities and to encourage women to become more involved in producing food during the First World War. Since then aims have broadened and today the WI plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide range of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.  Becoming a member of WI gives you the opportunity to meet new friends and to share interests.
